Game and App Development Challenge
About the Challenge
The RHS SWENext Club is excited to host our 2025 App and Game Development Coding Challenge! All middle school students are welcome to participate. This is a chance for students to show off their creativity and coding skills by designing either an app or a game.
The top three winners of each category will have a selection of prizes available.
Submissions will be due by Wednesday, June 11th. Results will be released via email and on our website by June 18th.
1. Register and Form a Team
This competition is open to all middle school students. Team submissions are allowed, with up to 4 people per team.

2. Pick a Category
Overall Theme: Space Mission
App Development

Create a space-themed app that also includes at least one aspect related to STEM. Your project can be a tool, simulator, or interactive experience that serves a clear purpose.

Be creative! Ideas may include: a space junk organizer, mood tracker for aliens, spaceship designer, space survival quiz, or even a zero-gravity recipe app.

Game Development
​

Design a space-themed game that includes at least one element related to STEM. Your game can be any style- platformer, puzzle, quiz, or adventure.
​

It does not need to be educational, but it should show originality and technical skill. Ideas may include: a “choose your own mission” space adventure, alien “flappy bird”, asteroid escape maze, space station clicker game, or a space themed typing race.

4. Submit!
Submit your project by Wednesday, June 11th! A panel of professionals in the CS field will judge the entries and results will be released by June 18th.
